Graphic Design

I have experience in graphic design including experience retouching and refining photographic images, creating icons and interface design elements, making illustrations, and creating animations.

User Experience

I majored in Human-Computer Interaction and have experience in design ranging from professional prototyping experience and usability evalualtions to client-facing projects in contextual inquiry and other forms of user research.

Metadata

I was responsible for metadata quality assurance for a significant government software collection and worked to refine their taxonomy. I have done project work writing scripts and utilzing programs like OpenRefine to normalize metadata across several digital collections.

Coding

I have professional experience in coding working for the government where I was responsible for writing code to generate statistical information and data visualizations. I have spent several years working on web development utilzing a wide variety of langauges, frameworks, and technologies.

User Research

As a part of my degree program I was a part of a semester long contextual inquiry project to improve a local company's customer complaints workflow. I have also done project work professionally and academically employing survey methodlogy and usability testing methods.

Databases

I have experience developing, maintaining, and querying relational databases with SQL. I have experience with data modeling outside the context of SQL. Most of my current work utilizes NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
